Static vs. Dynamic Calibration — What This Kit Covers

ADAS calibrations fall into two categories, and this kit handles both:

• Static calibration is performed in the shop. The vehicle is positioned on a level surface, the support structure and target panels are set up at manufacturer-specified distances and heights, and the Jaltest software walks your tech through the procedure step by step. You need a controlled environment — consistent lighting, level floor, correct panel placement. The physical equipment in this kit provides that.
• Dynamic calibration is performed on the road. The vehicle is driven at a prescribed speed, over a set distance, under specified conditions while the system recalibrates through sensor input. This requires the Jaltest diagnostic software and a proper road test — no additional physical targets needed.

When Does a Vehicle Need ADAS Calibration?

• After windshield replacement (cameras are often mounted to or behind the glass)
• After any body repair affecting the windshield or sensor mounting points
• After wheel alignment, especially when the windshield was replaced
• After tire size changes that affect vehicle geometry as the sensors read it
• After suspension work that changes ride height or axle angles

Any of these events can put a system's calibration out of spec. An uncalibrated forward collision system may react too late — or not at all. Shops that do glass, alignment, or body work and can't calibrate ADAS are either turning away jobs or handing liability to someone else.
